Holy G's Batman! Or, the day I found LDS garments at Goodwill
Have you ever found LDS garments for sale where they shouldn't be? If so, what did you do? How do you explain garments to people who don't know what they are?

I know awhile back they were all over eBay, but I just found a bunch at Goodwill. I ended up talking to a manager about it. But I'm a convert and I've only been wearing garments myself for a year and I'm not sure I explained it well or even if I should have brought it up at all. Yeesh.

If there were only a few of them, I'd probably buy them so they can be disposed of properly. If there were a huge amount, I'd haggle with the management while trying to explain the significance.

Interesting story. I've never heard of garments found at a thrift store.

There were only seven of them, four tops and three bottoms. I did buy them (for only $1.99 each, lol)

I have bought two temple dresses at this same thrift store in the past. And numerous LDS books, hymn books and scriptures. I've just never have seen garments at the thrift store! I didn't really know what to do.

I think you handled it properly. I might also put a word in with the bishop, maybe a stake wide reminder on the proper disposal of garments would be in order? Although it's probably and ex-mo. Still, just in case it's not.

Oh, good idea about talking to the Bishop.

I don't know how they got to the thrift store, but I'm thinking ex-mo too.

Or someone who had an LDS relative who died but the family handling the estate wasn't LDS and they just baiscally tossed them. I have seen that happenen as well.

Oh that's a good idea. Yikes! I'm the only member in my family. I guess I'd better leave some really specific instructions so that way my temple wear and garments don't end up at Goodwill.

It totally freaked me out. I normally go out shopping with my mom who's a nonmember but this time she happened not to be there. I think I would have had a harder time explaining it if my mom were there too!
